Position 1: Industrial Relations Senior Department Head
The Job
Reports to the Human Resources Manager.
Purpose
To develop and maintain harmonious and productive industrial relations in the Company, as well as dealing with matters concerning Collective Bargaining, Negotiations and Trade Union representation.
Key Result Areas
  • Collection of data for CBA negotiations, preparation and participation in negotiations at renewal.
  • Receiving and handling grievances and disputes.
  • Counseling and disciplinary process.
  • Preparation of defense in court cases arising out of Industrial actions.
  • Custodial of employee records and updates.
The Person
The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:
  • A University degree in Social Sciences.
  • Diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • Knowledge of Kenyan labour laws.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position.
  • Must be results oriented and ready to work for long hours.
  • Good management report writing skills.
  • Aged between 30 and 40 years.
  • Those who have worked in agricultural or production enterprise will have an added advantage.
Position 2: Legal Officer
The Job
Reports to the Legal Counsel.
Purpose
To provide litigation services including;
  • Perusal of court summons for necessary defense,
  • Instructions to Insurance and/or Advocate for filing of proper documentation,
  • Witness preparation and pre-trial brief,
  • Court document drafting and preparation,
  • Follow up on court attendance reports and case by case progress follow up from Advocates.
Key Result Areas
  • Management of External Counsel.
  • Legal department filing.
  • Legislative Update.
  • Legal Research and Advisory.
  • Preparation of reports.
  • Employer Liability claims documentation and follow up.
The Person
The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:
  • A university Degree in Law.
  • A post graduate Diploma from Kenya School of Law.
  • An enrolled Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • At least 3 years demonstrated practical legal work.
  • Commercial or Corporate experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of local substantive and procedural law.
  • Ability to work under pressure and priorities workload.
  • Good strategy, planning and computer skills.
  • Aged between 25—35.

A USAID contractor seeks qualified candidates for the following position: Regional Accountant – Nairobi
The Regional Accountant, under the supervision of the finance director, oversees financial operations, ensures compliance, and performs financial oversight for the Nairobi office of a USAID-funded project.
Specific duties include support for payroll functions; processing payments for operational and program expenditures; preparing monthly bank reconciliations; supervising vendor payments; providing financial analysis and projections as needed; monitoring and tracking grant and contract expenditures as needed; providing all information required for regular financial reporting; and other duties as assigned in an extremely fast-paced environment. Candidates must possess a BCOM, at least a CPA III, with at least five years of accounting experience including three years relevant experience in financial administration and management for USAID or other donor-funded programs in Kenya, as a demonstrated understanding of local banking conditions is required.

The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for nutrition, livelihoods, relief and emergency school feeding, while also supporting humanitarian air and logistics services, food security coordination and infrastructure rehabilitation projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:-
  • Reconcile and enter Cooperating Partners (CPs) food distribution reports in COMPAS;
  • Prepare Field Level Agreements (FLAs) with CPs and keep records of the signed agreements;
  • Act as the Secretary to the Project Review Committee (PRC);
  • Analyse CP distribution reports, reconcile to invoices and ensure that the goods have been invoiced correctly;
  • Undertake negotiations for and prepare project documents with government ministries and other participating agencies;
  • Organize project planning missions, meetings and briefing sessions;
  • Assess project performance including utilization of resources and achievement of planned targets;
  • Monitor the receipt of shipping, freight or other documents and notify the appropriate WFP officer of nonreceipt;
  • Monitor the processing time for settling freight forwarders accounts;
  • Issue letters of guarantee and no-charge invoices as instructed;
  • Monitor, update and track data related to project issues, commodity pipelines and financial allotment status reports, informing the relevant divisions accordingly; ensure accuracy of data related to the above;
  • Analyze and prepare projections for food commodities and non-food items;
  • Assist in compiling monthly statistics on food aid and commercial food shipments to the country;
  • Maintain records on programme activities, from formulation stage through completion;
  • Carry out advocacy and information related tasks for project/programme activities;
  • Prepare status and progress reports;
  • Analyze contract terms and conditions, and correct any observed discrepancies;
  • Provide guidance, on-the-job training and assistance to support staff;
  • Evaluate, develop, and recommend procedures. Participate in discussions on new/revised procedures and practices; interpret and assess the impact of changes and make recommendations on follow up actions;
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
Education: Secondary school education preferably supplemented by courses in a relevant area such as Nutrition, Education, Human Resources, Public Administration, Transport, Development Economics or other related field.
 
Experience: At least five years of progressively responsible experience, of which at least one year was closely related to programme functions. At least one year at G5 level or equivalent.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English.
 
Knowledge: Experience utilizing computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other WFP software.
